Fool’s Code
It takes modern Hollywood blockbusters mere weeks to make the move from big screen to DVD release, but GrodsCorp’s 2006 short fillum Fool’s Code has taken 14 months to make it to YouTube. Enjoy!

Confirmation today that GrodsCorp’s 2006 short film Fool’s Code has not been shortlisted by Tropfest. A little demoralising but there is still no doubt that the film was miles better than some of the turd that’s gotten through to the finals in previous years. GrodsCorp will now begin an aggressive campaign of film festival entry and The Editor is quite confident that somebody, somewhere, is yet to have a chuckle at John, Simon and Ben.
The Editor’s been very quiet these past few weeks with post-production on GrodsCorp’s Tropfest ‘06 entry Fool’s Code almost concluded. This week Ed’s been locked in a room during the evenings with DJ Dubwise Greeny watching him work his Pro Tools audio wizardry. Fingers crossed, the whole thing might be finished late next week just in time for a DVD to be burnt for Christmas and a screening early in the new year.
Trying to view the (almost) finished product objectively, The Editor can only conclude that it kicks arse and stands a bloody good chance of making it to the preselection shortlist.
A full three days’ shooting. Every possible variation in weather. A faulty camera from the hire place. Unbelievable noise outside GrodsHQ — principle location. All cast and crew suffering sunstroke Sunday afternoon.
The Editor just watched all the footage back and this is some truly brilliant stuff we’ve got. Well done cast and crew!
The Editor has been using up a massive chunk of his monthly bandwidth checking the weather on the Bureau of Meteorology website these last few days thanks to the weekend Tropfest shoot (still showers both days). Logging in just a few moments ago he noticed this link on the BoM homepage:

Obviously the graphic is meant to represent some poor dude running up a mountain for dear life but Ed can’t help noticing how much it looks like he’s hangin’ ten on an east coast tidal wave. Gnarly.
The GrodsTeam is collectively holding its breath as the weekend approaches, desperately willing the predicted showers to hold off and the sun to shine. The reason? On Friday evening shooting begins on a short film for Tropfest 2006 and will continue through to Sunday afternoon at various locations in and around GrodsHQ. Directed by The Editor, produced by jLo, starring DrJimbo and Billybob and with McBec and The Amy Commission in supporting roles, the film (title still under wraps) will hopefully hold its own in the competition and launch DrJimbo’s frustrated acting career. Who knows, in a year’s time DrJ might be starring in infomercials or doing live pub appearances like David Brent in The Office specials.
UPDATE (6:20pm): Bloody hell

What on Earth is the difference between “Shower or two” and “Few showers”? Stupid meteorologists.
