The other day, The Editor lamented racism and bigotry implicitly and explicity rearing their ugly heads again after Camden Council voted unanimously to oppose a proposal to build an Islamic school on the outskirts of the town, south-west of Sydney, “on planning grounds alone”.

Local resident and bigot, Kate McCulloch, caught media attention with her garish green and yellow dress and an abominable Akubra adorned with Australian flags, as well as her openly prejudiced remarks, such as:

We don’t want [Muslims] not only here, we don’t want them in Australia. They’re an oppressive society, they’re a dictatorship… The ones that come here oppress our society, they take our welfare and they don’t want to accept our way of life.

Days later, she’s back in the news. The Sydney Morning Herald has interviewed her (why?), and her comments reveal a cretinous dimwit who is now talking about following the footsteps of Pauline Hanson and entering politics. Says she:

“Look, scores of people are coming up to me and saying, ‘Good on you, Kate … you’re saying what we’re too scared to ‘cos of racial vilification laws, but we all think it.’ I would like to keep our place like it is and I guess [joining the] Liberals would be natural,”

She conveniently forgets — or doesn’t know — that Pauline Hanson was kicked out of the Liberal Party for her extremist racist views.

Having said that, however, the Liberal Party is still nevertheless home to many other bigots. The most recent notable being fomer Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews. The Age today writes that a confidential Immigration Department report (obtained under Freedom of Information laws) found that racial harassment of Africans increased following Andrews’ claims in 2007 that they were engaged in crime and failing to integrate.

Desperate political point-scoring at its most detestable. And Kate McCulloch might find a home within the Liberal Party after all.

Anyway, back to Mad Kate. She makes another bizarre comment about the “victory vote” by Camden Council:

She said the victory vote was in keeping with the spirit of Camden’s status as the birthplace of the nation’s wool industry. “The Macarthurs will be proud of us,” she said.

Huh? What’s the wool industry got to do with any of this?

What else did she say?

“I want Muslims in Australia to attend our schools so their children can grow up with our values, and more importantly, so that their mothers can meet Australian mums and see how they don’t have to put up with the sort of treatment they sometimes endure.”

Meanwhile, across all geographic areas of Australia and in all socioeconomic and cultural groups, a conservatively estimated 36% of women experience domestic violence and a conservatively estimated 19% of women experience sexual assault (2005). And they’re just the women who report the assaults, with God knows how many more going unreported.

Oh, but Mad Kate conveniently ignores that. Only Moozlim women are under some kind of terrible “treatment”.

And what does Pauline Hanson think of this new myopic ignoramus upstart?

The Herald called Mrs Hanson about her would-be successor. She hung up without offering a word.

O come, all ye bigots, I shall be your racist mouthpiece.

Note: a bigger article about Mad Kate and the Camden outrage, plus the lead-up to the vote and the involvement of racist groups such as Australia First and the Anglo-Australian National Community Council and their cowardly midnight actions can be found here.

It’s been a while since we announced a nomination for un-Australian of the year but there’s been no more worthy recipient than Wilson Tuckey.

Wilson Tuckey

Dr Nelson was… forced to defend Liberal MP Wilson Tuckey, who walked out of Parliament before today’s apology to indigenous Australians.

The West Australian MP was in the house for the opening prayer, but left the chamber when Mr Rudd rose to his feet to deliver the apology.

A number of other coalition MPs were absent from the chamber or late arriving.

Mr Tuckey had earlier suggested saying sorry would do nothing for solving indigenous problems.

On what constituents would think of Mr Tuckey’s behaviour, Dr Nelson said: “Every member of the Parliament, whatever side of the house that he or she is from, is ultimately answerable to the people of Australia.”

Firstly she faxes Alan Jones during one of his political scandals and tells him to “stay brave and true” — except she faxes it to his rival network.

Secondly she vomits up some ridiculous idea about building a Gallipoli theme park on the Victorian south coast.

Thirdly she earns for herself GrodsCorp’s most heartfelt nomination yet for UnAustralian Of The Year by weighing into the RU486 debate with the most unintelligent, racist, insulting and plain stupid public opinion since Pauline Hanson and/or White Australia. Over to Ms Vale:

“I’ve actually read in the Daily Telegraph where a certain imam from the Lakemba mosque actually said that Australia is going to be a Muslim nation in 50 years’ time,” she said.

“I didn’t believe him at the time but when you actually look at the birthrates and you look at the fact that we are aborting ourselves almost out of existence by a 100,000 abortions every year.

“You multiply that by 50 years, that’s 5 million potential Australians we won’t have here.

“The ramifications it actually has for the community and the nation we’ll become in the future is not for the decision of the TGA.”

We now wait for John Howard to hold a press conference to publicly and firmly slap down the filth espoused by his colleague.

The mad monk

For utterly failing to separate religion and politics in relentlessly pushing his personal faith-based agenda.

For not giving a flying fuck about “our great champion” Makybe Diva or horse racing in general. Sport of kings, his arse. Sport of bogans more likely.

For gross hypocrisy in using vitriol and petty name calling to attack those with whom he doesn't agree. For attacking the “left” for displaying the same behaviours he has trademarked.* For not being able to construct a solid, researched argument that holds up to proper analysis. For consistently referring to a personal and inaccurate image of Australia that denies any hint of racism. For perpetuating the myth that debate and society are polarised, existing in a land of only black and white — no grey. This list could go on forever…

* From here: “The Left has become… angry with impotence… foam-flecked with rage”

* His protruding forehead suggests that he is either under-evolved or over-evolved. GrodsCorp reckons the former.

* The Editor could score 400 vs. Zimbabwe.

* He once told The Catholic Weekly Online:

“When I’m in trouble it’s always something to think about. I ask myself 'what would Christ be doing in this situation?'”

Christ would be scoring runs and catching balls.

Not only did he lose the Ashes, but he lost them very ungracefully. First he tries a pre-emptive blame shift before the fifth test had even started and then he tries out these lines at the post-match presser:

“They have bowled well and batted very aggressively and those have been the two stand-outs for me.”

Do you need to do much more than bat well and bowl well to win a cricket match?

“We are the number one side in the world and they are number two”

Um, yeah, but didn't they just kick your arse?

“I haven't got too many regrets throughout this series”

Let GrodsCorp give you just three of many things to regret: sending England in at Edgbaston, bowling Brett Lee instead of McGrath during England's second innings at The Oval and continuing to let the neanderthal Hayden take the field.

“In our dressing room, the guys are saying we lost it and in England's they'll be saying they won it.”

Wonder who's right, Punter?

* For daring to define those qualities that make one Australian.
* For hurling the “un-Australian” insult around with gay abandon but being unable to cop it himself.
