The lesser-known evils of the Labor states

Listening to the frantically desperate John Howard flailing about in the media at the moment you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Labor states are responsible for everything bad that happens in this country, while the federal Liberal government (despite continually having to mop up states’ mess) is responsible for everything good that happens. Apparently the states cause higher interest rates and lower housing affordability, not to mention educational failures and negligent healthcare.
But here’s a little-known list of other evil deeds for which the ALP state governments are totally responsible.
* Delta Goodrem and Kylie Minogue’s cancers (QLD and VIC respectively)
* Crowded House’s first breakup (NSW)
* Channel Nine’s refusal to screen The Secret (SA)
* Big Brother (QLD — Peter Beattie specifically)
* John Howard’s dismal YouTube reviews (WA)
* Family First party (VIC)
* Emo (TAS)
* Scientology (NT)
* Iain Hall (QLD — again)
Unfortunately this list is incomplete. Please list other state government evils in comments.

On behalf of Victoria, I would like to apologise for the following:
* Andrew Bolt (obviously)
* Eddie Mcguire
* Quizmania
* Warwick Capper (yes, unfortunately he was ours)
* Freezing winters that disprove global warming
* The Westgate Bridge collapse (due any day now, according to the Herald Sun)

On behalf of Tasmania I would like to apologise for the entire issue of forestry and both Labor and Liberal policies on same and for Paul Lennon. The contributions of Graeme Murphy, Errol Flynn and Max Walker somewhat offset these crimes, but are cancelled out by the fact that Germaine Greer’s dad was Tasmanian. So I am sorry.
On behalf of NSW I would like to apologise for Home and Away, the Sydney Swans and their ugly style of football, the NRL Footy Show, Australian Idol, Alan Jones, John Laws, Stan Zemanek, Ron Casey and Hillsong.

On behalf of the ACT I would like to apologise for… err… whatever it is that we contribute… yeah.

On behalf of Victoria again, I would like to apologise for my blog.

Good call, the entire state of Queensland should be kicked out of the commonwealth for allowing Iain Hall to live there, Kevin Andrews should review Iains visa immediately. Anyway check out his latest effort, trying to make the iainhall.com page disappear and failing miserably:

As I have said repeatedly, Iain Hall is a pretty reasonable bloke. Whilst I do not agree with him on everything, his views are mostly sensible and responsible.
And whilst Family First are a pack of wowsers, they are pretty reasonable on everything else.
Who can we blame for Grods - or at least for the decline in general quality recently in the standard of your leftiod rantings?

It’s a pity repeating yourself won’t make it true.
As I have said repeatedly, I will win the lotto. Aw crap…

What’s this got to do with the lesser-known evils of the Labor states anyway?

Strider, if you ignore the devious, malicious crap that Iain has done and now wallpapers over, then he does seem reasonable. However some of us have a longer memory and attention-span than 10 minutes, so we’re a little harder on him.

Fair cop. I think we can blame Queensland for GrodsCorp — a blight on the blogospheric landscape.
