While in Canberra last weekend GrodsCorp interviewed prominent blogger and independent candidate for Fraser, Samuel Gordon-Stewart.

The Editor asks the questions while Billybob and Hairball create a wind wall for the mic

In a wide-ranging conversation we discussed climate change, federalism, private versus public services, campaigning, preference deals and more. Click here to view the video if it doesn’t appear below.

Great interview team. Did Samuel borrow some of Lachlan’s catchphrases or was it the other way around?

I think Samuel should check what the IPCC is (and the major parties are) actually saying. I know he wasn’t being literal but he’s quite a way off the mark.

Is it to late to fake an enrolment in Fraser?

    or too late…. either or….

Nice balanced interview. While I don’t agree with all of his views and policies, it’s great to see such a young candidate standing up to ‘the man’ for what he believes in.
I need not say that if I were in Fraser, I’d consider voting for him, even if it is purely as a protest vote… oh wait, I just did.
    Nice work Grods.

    Nice camera work, HB.

Does billybob and the Ed shop together??

How many coffees does the ED need before he can conduct an interview?

With a hangover the size of the one I had that day, three wasn’t even enough.

Didn’t realise the table behind was also covering their mike from the wind! And what the hell am I protecting?

I can’t believe how organised you guys are.

PS Did I hear him say he wanted to pump more money into the public health and education systems instead of the private one? You’re not “right of centre”, Samuel.

  13.  Gravatar Bruce (Friday 5 October 2007, 4:51 pm) #

And no funding for private schools… “Right of centre” indeed.

On health and education I do lean to the left, but on most other issues I am usually a bit right of centre.

As The Editor said, the left/right scale is simplistic

I thought you were pro civil liberties (left), pro public health & education (left), pro government-funded broadband (left), pro women’s choice (left), pro equality for gay people (left)… Apart from your rather optimistic assumption that man has nothing to do with climate change (of course we can pump ever-increasing amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere without it making the slightest difference: the Earth’s atmosphere is a magical CO2 dissipating machine!), what are your positions that would generally be described as “right-wing”? On what issues do you agree more with the Liberals than the Greens?

I was wondering how you did an interview with Sammy and a Melbourne based candidate and now I know. I too think Sammy need encouragment to run as do all under 20’s. I think that this is the first time he can vote in a Federal Election.

In all the hubbub, I’m surprised a certain right-wing blogger hasn’t been along to point out the flotilla of latte glasses on the table of the aforementioned interview.

For the record, the latte glasses all belong to the GrodsTeam. Samuel drank flat whites.

Get a big rock and drop it in your head, Samuel!

I had a dog named Samuel once. Silly as a wheel that dog.
