 Family First home movies

Lachlan Connor, eat your heart out. Check out this corker of a video from Family First candidate Jemma Tribe. Think of every amateur, home-movies video production technique possible and director Josh Reid (says Josh: “Hope to be a full time film director one day”) has used it. Everything, that is, except for a page-turn transition which would have been the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake. You can’t have everything, but.

I’m a bit confused about whether Jemma’s standing for the lower or upper house because she says she’s the candidate for Cunningham (lower house seat based around Wollongong) but keeps referring to the need for Family First representation in the Senate.

UPDATE: I should be careful what I wish for. I bitch about director Josh Reid’s failure to use page-turn transitions and BAM! he comes through with page-turns, star wipes, and every other hideous transition known to the human race.

UPDATE II (25/10): Josh Reid has disabled embedding of the video because Family First can’t hack the criticism. Click here to watch it instead.

Most experts agree that the Govt will lose its majority (aka majority -1 + Fielding) in the senate? So the Govt will be bound to someone else when they win (Labor, Dem, GREENS! :-0 Gay Heroin Overdose)? That kinda infers that they will keep the lower house in the election…

Has she been listening to Danny Nalliah?

Nice also how she talks about a current “loud minority” that dictates the political agenda. Has she fallen on her head and mistook the Govt “senate majority” for something else? A big imaginary Greens threat?

Or does she just mean Fielding? Sounds more like a confession to me.

But seriously, it’s dead obvious she is talking about “those people who aren’t hurting anyone but insist on doing what they like in the privacy of their own home”. AKA, TEH GAYS, Atheists, pagans, Mussies, insert-outgroup-X-here!

Now I’m just going to have to get all sarcastic and play along with the dogwhistle.

Clearly these minorities need to realise that they have a God given freedom to do whatever FF tells them to do in the privacy of their home. Like freedom from sin, freedom from homosexuality, freedom from the tribulations of a life without explicit leadership from those who know more about your personal wellbeing and liberty than you do yourself … You know! Freedom from freedom!

Hey! That’s what FFP stands for! The Freedom from Freedom Party!

    [Sarcasm ends]

    Theofascist toads.

I thought it was a hoot she managed to put in a Glorio Jeans product placement. The owner of the coffee empire is number 2 in the AOG hierarchy.
Just like Better Homes and Gardens flogging Bosche power tools.

That was amusing. I particularly enjoyed the One Nation style idiocy of the 10c/litre tax cut on petrol promise. Yeah, and that wouldn’t be absorbed by the petrol companies within months, Jemma.

Yeah, and that wouldn’t be absorbed by the petrol companies within months, Jemma.

Hmmm… You don’t want it Fed. Govt? I’ll eat it up if you aren’t going to finish it.

Um .. didn’t Fielding vote for WorkChoices? Doesn’t that kind of undermine his argument?

Pretty sure the greens aren’t trying to legalise drugs but decrim it yes?

I could swear the vox pop from the obvious FF staffer who talked about heavy drinking was in fact half cut.

    I couldn’t help myself.
Had to blog about this video too.
“Pretty sure the greens aren’t trying to legalise drugs but decrim it yes?”
And i thought lying was a sin for people like Jemma!

One of my personal favourite bits is the countdown at the beginning. How utterly pretentious.

By the way, the word “family” is said nine times (excluding the phrase “Family First”) during the video.

And just another of my favourite bits: “Family values equal Australian values.”

Words cannot express my distaste for everything that Family First stands for (ie. freedom from freedom, as Bruce so brilliantly points out.)

“Um .. didn’t Fielding vote for WorkChoices? Doesn’t that kind of undermine his argument?”

Actually, he voted against it, because the government already had all the votes it needed and this way he could differentiate himself without pissing them off.

However, whenever the Libs have been short a vote, Fielding has come to the plate for them.

Oh god, that video from the update. My eyes! I like the backhanded insults from “moviegirl”: “Great film! A great start! I like it. A few errors like editing and acting, but all is a well done for the first timer! I remember I made my first film - so much worse than yours! Well done!”

Couldn’t resist adding an even bitchier comment of my own: “Yeah! Awesome! Apart from a few errors like editing, acting, directing, writing, and pretty much everything to do with the film, it’s great! I’ve seen moviegirl’s first effort, and she’s right, it WAS even worse than yours! So it is possible. Bravo.”

No, seriously, he should’ve taken his misgivings and NOT uploaded that for people to see.

How do you fight that, Greens ?

Was anyone else thinking: “Charlie the Wonderdog–is there anything he can’t do?/Running, jumping, making us laugh/Charlie we love you!”

And was anyone else thinking, re: the genie . . .”Does Daryl Somers know you’re wearing his jumper?” (Another blatant Late Show reference)

I finally got around to watching it - tap!

In other news, Josh “My Goal is to see Individual Human Beings Reach Their Full Potential” Reid has a feature film script in “development”. Can’t wait to see it!

I want to know more about this whiz-bang policy of allowing first-home buyers to claim their mortgage repayments as a tax deduction, “just like investors”. From what I hear, investors can only claim the difference between rental income and mortgage expenditure - so how are they going to calculate how much first-home owners can claim?

family first polled under four percent in virtually every electorate, I think they only broke 4%in like three seats, the rest was a write off, $500+ bucks a throw.
They’ll be stinging from that for a while, hopfully it will make it just that little bit harder to get up after their most recent trip to the canvas.
