 Today Tonight Party

Steve Fielding being a dick just now on ABC’s Insiders, jousting with the leaders of the Democrats and the Greens. He trotted out all the usual quotes about how evil the Greens are, including my personal favourite: “free heroin”. Fielding crapped on about petrol prices, grocery prices and bank fees, firmly positioning his “party” (let’s be honest about his “party” — it consists of one Parliamentary representative representing 1.88% of Victorians) as the consumer affairs micro party. Surprisingly, he only said the word “family” twice (excluding when he said his Party name) in contrast to Kevin Rudd’s now ad nauseum chanting of the “family” mantra. So maybe Steve Fielding should get in touch with the AEC and lodge an application to change his micro party’s name to the Today Tonight Party.

It was also revealed on Insiders that Family First in Queensland having been discussing a preference deal with Pauline Hanson which raises a very interesting question: is Pauline Hanson a Pentecostal?

And in a non-Steve Fielding aside about Insiders, Piers Ackerman said the Kyoto Protocol was “so 1990s” which was hilarious in the context of the 1970s haircut, shirt and jacket that cloaked his toad-like body.

Come and get me, laydeez

Is it just me, or does anyone else think FF are really struggling for oxygen this election?
Apart from some absurd “today tonight” solutions to inflation, I can’t actually remember any policy announcements other than a giant footy on the Geelong waterfront to celebrate the Cats AFL win.
It looks like Fielding will have three more lonely years in Canberra.

If the Greens are “free heroin”, doesn’t that make FF “free methadone”?

    Oh no! Free Methadone!

Like ‘xenophobia’, pentecostal is another Greek word.

Pauline would respond with a ‘please explain’ if you asked her.

So, no burning lesbians at the stake this time around?

On behalf of Australia I’d like to apologise for your watching Piers Akerman

Did he mention his ‘Rudd is a horse fucker’ theory? You just know it will get an airing.

As for the toad remark, well great minds…

Mikey, when Ackerman was banging on about things (I admit, I kind of space out when he opens his mouth), all I could think of was your “horse fucker” expose.

Actually, while watching him, I was thinking he’s kind of like that uncle that everyone avoids at family gatherings. Not because he’s a kiddie fiddler, but because once he gets going on a topic, there’s not stopping him and he’ll follow you around for the rest of the night.

Finally, I would like to apologise on behalf of My ABC for allowing Ackerman to flash his stomach on air. I threw up a little.

Has anyone asked the Greens how they plan to fund that free heroin policy? I mean I know it’s pretty cheap in Victoria as it is, but still…

What I love about Family First is their candidate with the naked photos who regularly surf’s porn sites on the net! Talk about joining the wrong party!

It’s true we’re not hearing much about FF atm - much more airtime is given to the Greens and amazingly the Dems even though I’m not sure what their platform is any more - journalists are more interested in recording the expected demise of the party!

is it just me or does anyone else think there is something deeply perverse and sinister about Steve Fielding being his own parliamentary whip?
