So it's unaffiliated ergo it's a pure sledge on Labor. It's like blaming Saddam for 911.

Ken Case is a personal friend of mine. I spent a brief time as an AEU organiser with him and have got on well with him since then. He's a gentle guy and he was probably just getting up to wave a finger at Howard.

Sure, it's understandable that security would drag him away because they can't risk anything. But Howard was never at any risk from Ken, other than perhaps a political drubbing. He's just a passionate man.

It is also worth mentioning that neither Ken, nor the AEU is affiliated with the ALP. I've talked to Ken about issues to do with the interface between unions and the ALP and while having an opinion, his response essentially went along the lines of "but that's not our interest".

Indeed, the AEU doesn't affiliate with the ALP because their members don't want them to. That and quite frankly they don't need delegates in the ALP in order to be effective.

There is no part of any of this stupid ad that represents the goings on in the world outside of the collective paranoia of the Liberal party.

Further to all of this, I can remember some time back when Ken, others from the AEU and myself protested outside the office of Trish Draper when Brendan Nelson was in Adelaide. Draper didn't exactly have a blunt tongue in dealing with Ken.

Do we then have Trish Draper in an anti-Liberal ad, insulting Ken while Nelson smugly watches? No. Because we have more important issues to discuss.
