GrodsPoll - Who should lead the Libs?

It happened. Rudd is PM. Life is already changing - this morning I was beaten up by union thugs three times before breakfast, and The Editor was dismayed to find that supermarket prices were already spiraling out of control. The resources boom is over and the drought is even worse. To cap it off, Peter Costello has just announced that he is not contesting the leadership of the Liberal Party.
Today’s poll - who would you like to see lead the Liberal party?
My vote is for Tony Abbott - how hilarious would that? Abbott would be far more damaging than Latham ever was. For one he’d make Cardinal Pell deputy leader and force all non-Catholics to sea.
Who will be next leader of the Liberal Party?

I want Turnbull to lead. At least he makes a valuable contribution to public discussion.

in my electorate the liberal party could run a side of beef as a candidate, people would still vote for it, it doesn’t matter who their leader is, what their policies are or how many lies they tell, they will always have the support of a “certain element” of the community.

by the way Ed. what is to become of the Democrats now? Will they merge with the Greens or fight on valiantly to the last? I’m really sad about that actually, almost as sad as I am to see Kerry Nettle go.

Krypto, I thought they did run a side of beef, when’s the last time Sussan Ley was sighted?

I really thought that Turnbull was smarter than this. Australian voters don’t change sides very often, the Libs realistically face 9-12 years in opposition and during that time two or three leaders will be knifed. Why has Turnbull jumped so early?
Obviously Malcolm does believe his own publicity. I don’t think that Turnbull has the ability to turn around the nasty right wing of the Liberal party in time to make them a palatable option in 2011. The Libs haven’t got enough talent left to start throwing people like Tony Abbott overboard, yet that is exactly what they must do if they want to move back to the centre of the political spectrum where they may once again be electable.
BTW, I voted for Nelson. Not because I think he’ll get it, but because I’d love to see him do a Downer circa 1994.

oh Sussan Ley was hanging around the booth I was working on like the foul stench that she is, the fact that she didn’t lose a larger share of her margin is a testimony to the fact the people of Farrer like dullness, they actually approve of mind numbingly tedious “I let the party think for me because I’m too much of a dead fish going with the flow to do otherwise” approach that Sussan has.
To quote Sir Les Patterson, she would “…bore an arsehole in a wooden horse”.

Speaking of which, what is Sir Les up to these days? He’d make a fine leader of the liberal party.

No vote from me. You left out the only person capable of doing more damage to the Liberals than the rest put together - Sophie Mirabella.

oh yeah, she’d kill ‘em dead in their tracks Ray, the only reason Sussan Ley is slightly more popular though is because she keeps her mouth shut and doesn’t actually SAY or DO ANYTHING.
Either way, it’s proof the voters of both Farrer and Indi would vote for a lump of dog shit if it had a liberal party flag sticking out the top of it.
