Got an email last night containing an interesting photograph.

Hi there Mr Editor,

I was at the ANZAC dawn service earlier this year and in between trying to act accordingly at such an event this tosser next to me going by the name of Steve was talking into his camera and recording himself during the last post. He did at least 100 takes and kept mentioning some wankers called Family First. He really pissed me off, and I mean really pissed me off and I was about give him a straight right to the jaw when my mild mannered friend suggested we take a photo of Stevo ruining the sounding of the last post. So we did. I have cut myself out of he photo… but suffice to say the look on my face spoke at least 200 takes.

I’ve been known to attend the odd dawn service myself for reasons of my own.
Using the occasion for political point scoring will get the bastard bayonetted if he does it in front of the wrong vet though.

I think the emailer may have the dates confused. It was 2006 not 2007. Regardless, it was an eventful morning not only did Steve ruin the Last Post and attempt to hijack the day to further his pathetic religious ideals but it was the height of the Camp Sovereignty protest at the Domain.

Some outlaw bikers rocked up to douse the fire and boot the protesters off but too there was too much of a police and media presence so they became part of the protest and got initiated by Robbie “The Ferral*” Thorpe. All talk they were. Bloody ring-ins. Try-hard tough guys.

Phew ’cause for a few minutes there looked like there may have also been an ANZAC Day massacre along with the Father’s Day one. Selfish pricks.
