John, you may be right... but I think I'm the man to get her to change sides goddammit!

And yes, Mr Editor, you SHOULD take some of the responsibility for ongoing failure to finish my studies. Thank you for the frank admission ;)

I had a low key New Year's Eve myself. After the heat (and the fact that I don't have air conditioning at home and the A/C where I do caring work wasn't too good) I wasn't really up for much (that and my planned NYE co-party-goers were either sick or working on the night).

I just watched the Chaser on Rage and wrote a heap of letters to friends and relatives overseas.

I had my low-key defacto-party last night. Making some salad and smoothies for relies, watching "Inspector Rex: The Early Years" with the younger cousins before having a night time swim in the outdoor pool (while discussing astronomy, astrophysics and a bit of amateur quantum mechanics with the kiddies - all of which the youngest hated - the idea of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_death" rel="nofollow">heat death</a> scared her almost as much as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Rip" rel="nofollow">The Big Rip</a>).

I stayed in the pool after the others got out and it was a good deal cooler when I finally got out (and my hands had the texture of prunes). I spent that extra time just slowly backstroking laps of the pool while stargazing (it was a good clear night for it).

Oh. And Happy New Year, Grods-goers!

Invig got lucky! Just try not to let it go any further than kissing your sister's friends. I speak from experience.

I went camping near Karuah with about 30 of my sister's friends (seeing as my own are not as fun and/or hate me and/or were working)

Aside from ancillary awkwardness due to my not being used to such occasions, it was fun. I offended no one and had many interesting conversations and got to kiss my sister's ex a little (who I always had a crush on and who is completely gorgeous and smart and funny :D)

Dave from Albury, please tell how a punter can "fall pregnant". It has always been a mystery to me. Similar to "passed away', i guess.

And Ray it would have been rockin in Myrtleford.

<strike>Hicksville</strike> Bright, NYE. Retro band playing daggy songs on the Alpine Hotel verandah to an audience consisting mainly of kids under 13 and kids aged 13 to 16 (but drinking), while the local Lions Club has its "Lucky Wheel" going right smack bang in the middle of town by the Clock Tower (as they do every night at this time) and the local Rotary Club takes kids for rides on the mock train up and down the main street, which the council has closed off for the 'celebrations'. Meanwhile every restaurant displaying "fully booked" signs even though they're half empty, and the two pubs close their kitchens @ 8.30. We manage to get a meal around 10 but only because we know the waitress!

We know how to party in Bright. (I guess it's OK for young families though)

You shouldn't talk about New Year's Eve celebrations like that one out loud, you'll jinx your self and McBec will fall pregnant.

Our New Year's Eve was spent trying to placate a three and a four year old who both wanted fireworks NOW. Naturally this meant that the fireworks were an hour late and in a different location to what we expected, making our vantage point all but useless.

Ah, parenthood.

Our cat is stretching out by the window where there's a breeze. He actually spent most of yesterday outside in the shade. I think he was trying to teach me a lesson.
