Some people will say anything to secure a more lenient sentence.

MEMBERS of a Melbourne-based terrorist group discussed killing John Howard while he was prime minister, the Victorian Supreme Court was told today.

Shame on them.

I’m almost certain that the topic came up at a few BBQs at my place during the last decade.

I think it came up in the Costello household too.

Hehehe…you should have heard some of things the occasional 80 year old pensioner passer-by would suggest be done to Howard whilst I was on a socialist stall in Swanston street.

    T’would make Osama blush…

I’ve actually heard a Liberal Party member (and friend), with tongue-in-cheek, talk about the possibility. I doubt that if they were serious that they’d advocate his murder, but I think that their objection would primarily be on grounds of civility and not at all on Howard’s merit.

I wonder how many gun-toting hotheads have talked about offing Rudd? Indeed, I wonder how many talked about offing the PM back when Howard made the best political contribution of his career; gun control*.

Anyone remember him attending that public appearance wearing a jacket under his garb?

    * Which falsely got my hopes up that his Government weren’t going to be 99% crap.

Remember it well - the ‘man of steel’ hiding from his own countrymen behind a kevlar vest (picture of it here).

every gun nut in Australia AND John Howard in the one place at the one time, what a wasted opportunity that was.

I think the transcript of their plot to kill Howard was on 4 Corners last night.

Sure the prosecutor’s case is a newsworthy story, but I’m tipping the hun goes MIA when it comes to reporting the defences arguments.

After all the crap with Haneef and Jihad Jack Thomas, I’d the the prosecution will be working hard to ensure there are no holes in their case. Be interesting to see what the defence comes up with as these are very serious charges that seem to have a bit if substance to them.

You know what. I’m sick and tired of you lefties giving the greatest PM of our time a hard time.

I am going to make a complaint to the Australian Press Council about this.

I am not a person to be messed with and I demand this post be withdrawn followed by an apology to Mr Howard.

    Chop chop.

Isn’t it great how unlike John Howard, even Castro knew when to go.
Castro proved you can have a shit economy but still have world-class health, education AND the all important sporting success. Cuba has more Olympic winners per capitan that Australia, yet you don’t see Castro strutting about in a tracksuit … whoops I stand corrected.
