Wilson Tuckey is a cockhead — I don’t think there’s any debate about that — but you’ve got to give points to a good joke regardless of who speaks it. Here’s Tuckey cracking a good one in Parliament today.

He’s still a cockhead, but.

Sorry Ed, that’s a shit joke on a technicality: what use is a mouse pad with a laptop?

I think some of the “Education Revolution” computers are desktops, aren’t they?

Let’s hope they don’t have touchpads or trackballs.

I gathered he was referring to the “laptop for every student”. But if I’m wrong, I’ll concede that Wilson Tuckey is a comic genius.

well I assume they’ll have optical mouses (or mice) meaning the need for a mousepad is zero, zilch, nada, nyente.
About as much use as Wilson Tuckey himself actually.

    Don’t encourage him. He’s a fuckwit.

The new speaker actually seems to be taking the job seriously, which is quite a strange thing to see after the last eleven years (excluding Sinkers’ time), so I think that the Libs may find themselves in the shit if they keep using points of order simply as a chance for an interjection.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out how that was a “point of order”. Then again, I’m also trying to figure out how asking the parliament for its advice on recycling mousepads is really the business of government.

    Was funny, but.
