Deciphering ALP policy - Lesson One

Behold the sheer brilliance of the Brumby-Pike plan for educational reform:

Principals will help burnt-out teachers find new jobs under reforms proposed for Victorian schools.

They’ll sack ‘em.

Education Minister Bronwyn Pike released a discussion paper yesterday addressing ways to remove under-performing teachers. “It’s true there are some teachers who become disengaged from the educational process,” Ms Pike said.

They’re shite.

“I think there needs to be an opportunity for them to consider an alternative career.”

They should piss off.

Ms Pike said some schools had lost the confidence of parents and their community.

They’re shite too.

Under-performing schools would face greater scrutiny and more hands-on management from outside.

We’ll take those ones over and kick arse.

Australian Education Union state president Mary Bluett said the paper failed to acknowledge the need for more money for Victoria’s teachers, the nation’s lowest paid.

‘Give us more money’ - leftists.

Well deciphered, Bridgit. The best part about Pike’s “plan” is that it’s full of pledges to look for ways to do things (like move on bored teachers) but contains no actual ways to do those things.

And do not forget the plan for two new selective entry schools just announced. While parachuting the supposed best and brightest teachers into non-performing schools they are planning on dragging others off to reinforce a two tiered public education system.

Lollin. Education was so badly handled the last ten years that martial law needs to be declared on these retardedly bad school systems we have now-a-days. I just dont get why Labor wont just say “its shite and we need to make it better”, instead of these horrid essays groaning under the weight of statistics and stuck in a cul de sac of its own self righteousness. A spades a spade and an awful teacher is an awful teacher.

The answer is simple: more money and new ideas. Pay teachers what they’re worth; pay the best ones six figures. It’ll inspire better people into the profession and the dead wood will quickly drop away.

Only prob there, Bridgit, is the decision making system and criteria. My idea of the terrific teacher might be absolutely different to someone elses.

‘Not sleeping with students’ would be the first criteria. ‘Not owning irreverent political blogs’ would be another.

Whew! I only own irrelevant political blogs.

    Resignation not accepted.

Relevance is overrated anyway. So is reverence.
