'Not sleeping with students' would be the first criteria. 'Not owning irreverent political blogs' would be another.

Only prob there, Bridgit, is the decision making system and criteria. My idea of the terrific teacher might be absolutely different to someone elses.

The answer is simple: more money and new ideas. Pay teachers what they're worth; pay the best ones six figures. It'll inspire better people into the profession and the dead wood will quickly drop away.

Lollin. Education was so badly handled the last ten years that martial law needs to be declared on these retardedly bad school systems we have now-a-days. I just dont get why Labor wont just say "its shite and we need to make it better", instead of these horrid essays groaning under the weight of statistics and stuck in a cul de sac of its own self righteousness. A spades a spade and an awful teacher is an awful teacher.

And do not forget the plan for two new selective entry schools just announced. While parachuting the supposed best and brightest teachers into non-performing schools they are planning on dragging others off to reinforce a two tiered public education system.

Well deciphered, Bridgit. The best part about Pike's "plan" is that it's full of pledges to look for ways to do things (like move on bored teachers) but contains no actual ways to do those things.
