Sigh. I’m too good for some of you. One of you. That’ll be Krypto, who is lamenting the lack of activity on this blog tonight.

But it did get me wondering: what the hell are you all doing tonight? Indeed, how are you all going to spend your long weekend this weekend? Or if you come and look at this blog late on Sunday night, how did you spend your long weekend?

Myself, I’m watching the third season of Blackadder, and it’s very funny. I just love Rowan Atkinson. I’m shocked that I’ve never bothered to watch this show before.

And in about 10 minutes, I’m going to dash to the bottle shop and get another bottle of wine. I’m still sober. Too sober. IT’S A PUBLIC HOLIDAY TOMORROW! Damn. (I’ve just finished watching the episode of the French in England. Damn.)

So, go wild. Say what you like — and say something really offensive so I can delete it.

Oh and Krypto, the name Sam Newman is not allowed on this post, kthxbai.

Watched 4 eps of the first season of The IT Crowd.

Fuck me what a piss funny show.

Blowing the long weekend watching entire slabs of awesome TV series is an excellent way to spend your time.

    Arrested Development next!

    Hooray for TV!

The IT Crowd? What was that? I can’t remember that being on TV. Is that the one with two dudes and a chick on ABC and wasn’t on for long? One dude is kinda the wise-cracking smartarse, the other the nerdy, and the girl a bit of chick?

(That summary could be any old show, I just realised!)

If I remember correctly it was on before or after the Chasers?

I’m going to see a couple of movies at the German Film Festival tomorrow, hope they are a bit better than the two I saw at the recent French Film Festival that were not up to the usual standard this year.

  4.  Gravatar Bron (Thursday 24 April 2008, 10:42 pm) #

Ohh, I forgot about the German Film Fest. I saw two movies at the French Fest and you’re right, Steve, they just weren’t up to scratch this year. Buggered if I can remember what they were called though - the names were in French.

    (Like, duh!!!11!)

What kind of crowd attended, THR?

  7.  Gravatar THR (Thursday 24 April 2008, 11:05 pm) #

It was an interesting mix. There were many academics, but also some African immigrants who took exception with the speakers characterisations of the Arab world.
I might blog something more detailed in the next few days, as it was a fairly long, and for me, interesting discussion.
Readings is one of our better bookstores in Melbourne.
Have you or the other Sydneysiders been to Bob Gould’s bookstore?

I’ve spent far too much time on the interwebs tonight. About 6 hours at least.

The parentals are visiting tomorrow and Saturday (not staying at my place, thank goodness).

Otherwise I’m just going to read, watch TV. Have season 7 of the Gilmore Girls to watch. The entire series of the British version of Queer as Folk also. Unless I decide to go with something funny, then I have the first series of The IT Crowd that someone gave me.

I suspect I’ll be spending a lot of time sitting on my arse over the next three days.

It may be a naive question, but, is it good?

Good? Good?! Oh good Lord, it’s a filthy, stinking pig sty, with bookshelves stacked to the ceiling in no coherent, ordered system, sci-fi books sitting next to autobiographies, while in the next row Stephen King and Tolstoy hug each other. American militia history books sit side by side with Yehuda Berg’s special brand of Kabbalism. Books, magazines, even newspapers can be found here. Boxes and boxes and even more boxes line the floor, creating a massive opportunity for people to trip over and sue the proprietor. Upstairs is more of the same that after a while you get confused and not sure what level you’re on.

In summary, it’s a wonderful place, and I love it. I’m sure you will, too.

Everyone’s in bed so I’m doing my usual blog surfing. Have nothing to write about on clubwah so piss farted around changing the colours of the site.

I’m playing Scramble on Facebook really badly and used the new chat facility to chat with an old friend who invited me to her birthday drinks thus confirming that I have a semblence of a life left.

I’m also looking up short courses for welding as I have inherited my dear father’s arc welder and I have great plans to make sculptures and garden furniture.

Have half an eye on the TV - Lateline is finished and now David Campbell is destroying some Bobby Darin songs - fugga bastid

Magic Bellybutton I must confess to being a big Gilmour Girls fan - such wonderful dialogue and charming charcters - and Laureli … tap!!!

Gilmour Girls abridged - Teen mum disgraces blue blood family and doesn;t go to college. Years later she and her now teen daughter are like best friends (as she’s still quite a young - and very tappable - mum).
She slowly makes amends with her parents and has a love interest in Luke who runs a restaurant.
It’s very witty with snappy dialogue which reminds me of the West Wing - and I say that with the greatest respect to the best TV show EVER!

  21.  Gravatar Bron (Friday 25 April 2008, 12:08 am) #

Jeremy, I actually giggled at some bits of the first season, but the third season is much funnier, I admit. The snide references from Blackadder are so good, I want to write them down and memorise them and use them on someone who deserves it.

As for Hugh Laurie, he’s very, very good, very foppish and stupid. Pity he’s wrecked that on House. Ergh, I hate that goddamned show. Don’t tell me you watch House, please?

  22.  Gravatar Bron (Friday 25 April 2008, 12:12 am) #

  29.  Gravatar Bron (Friday 25 April 2008, 12:32 am) #

OK, here’s a random question for my minions to answer (truthfully, of course, although I would not be at all surprised if some creative answers were proffered as well).

Now, this evening when shopping at that mecca known as Coles Supermarket, I bought a kransky, on the sole basis that my dad likes kransky and would cook it sometimes when I was living at home with the folks. However, when I got home, I realised that I don’t know how kransky is cooked. Is it fried? Boiled? What? Because when I tried to remember my dad’s kranskies, I couldn’t remember how they tasted (ie boiled, fried, baked even?), all I remember is they tasted GOOD.

I forgot to ask my dear mum this evening when I spoke to her. So now, because I just went to the fridge to pour out more wine and saw a forlorn looking kranksky there, I remembered that I have to cook it — somehow. How?

Your turn to tell me, peasants.

(See, I’m adopting Blackadder’s condescending talk already! Excellent!)

I just wanted offensive material so I could delete it. However, I couldn’t quite bring myself to delete your wonderful contributions, because I know those links will make others gag.

Aren’t I considerate?! I’d rather not delete offensive material over having GrodsReaders gag. Ho ho ho. What a clever bitch I am. Brilliant!

Anyway, as an aside, once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, Bronwyn Bishop was my local MP. Tell me, Ray, is that worse or better than Sophie fucking Mirabella?!

  31.  Gravatar Ray Dixon (Friday 25 April 2008, 12:37 am) #

Bron, I’d absolutely grill the begeezus out of it until it’s nothing more than a charred piece of leather. I think that’s the only way I could stomach it.

  32.  Gravatar Wah (Friday 25 April 2008, 12:38 am) #

They can definately be fried. In fact it might be an idea ti boil them a bit first then fry them, as they’re quite thick. At least then they’ll be cooked inside quicker.

  33.  Gravatar THR (Friday 25 April 2008, 12:38 am) #

You can bbq it, but the easiest is to pan-fry. You can even slice it beforehand, like the Spaniards do with Chorizo.

This is a woeful idea , mainly because kransky always tastes so bad. Not it is impossible to drink this stuff bad, but burnt and very processed bad.

I have been I lifelong fan of the kransky. In fact one of the anecdotes that I like to tell about my childhood concerns the time, when I was nine, that I had an appendicitis

However breast enhancements are very low on my list of worthwhile procedures… My opinion on this issue was made even more certain when I acquired a load of silicone implants courtesy of a retired plastic surgeon. The implants are rather nasty pieces of kit actually, and a lot more fragile than you would expect, why any one would want to pay to have such things implanted ion (sic) their bodies is entirely beyond me, but the (sic) do make excellent ice packs after being chilled in the freezer.

[D]espite being a red blooded bloke who still appreciates the sight of a beautiful kransky… [i]t seem to me that more women are waking up to the fact that kransky for its own sake is not that satisfying

A lot of people seem to have a problem with the speed they talk. When you see interviews with the creators you see that THEY actually talk like that.

Good thing is you don’t catch all the references the first time around so each time you watch it, you pick up more.

oh that’s even worse I think, no, I reckon I’ve seen the older chick in something else and she wasn’t talking like that. It seems like a nervous manerism to me, kind of a hallmark of actors who aren’t really comfortable acting.

The Kransky tastes great from the microwave. Mmmm, kransky.

Krypto, she was once in Caroline in the City - but I never really watched that so I can’t tell you how she was in that.

Movie-wise, Lauren Graham was in Bad Santa and Because I Said So

Gilmore Girls was developed for a bunch of advertisers called the Family Friendly Programming Forum. That’s about all I know about it, but I’ll second Wah’s Tap.

Interesting about Family Friendly Programming Forum. However, I was a little disconcerted to see “Chuck” listed there. I thought he was one of Random Brainwave’s very naughty boys.

“for ANZAC day, I went out…to a TURKISH restaurant”

That’s un-Australian Krypto, you’ll rot in hell. I spent the day making up fckn flat-pack furniture, a very Australian thing to do.

Let’s see, yesterday I went to a pool hall, played some shockingly bad games and some shockingly good games, drank far too many pints, got hit on by the son of someone I used to date and left shamingly early because I was rapidly apporaching a state where I was too drunk to stand.

I’m sure the diggers would be proud.

MBB “Bad Santa” was the flik I was thinking of I reckon, she didn’t talk like Alvin the chipmunk on a caffeine and speed bender in that did she?
    I don’t think so.
