I’ve got the Logies on here and I’m working, so not really watching it, however I’ll take time out to make some observations:

1. It’s shit.

2. Bindi Irwin ‘best new talent’?!? She’s about as new as the Internets.

3. Is that Mister G character singing about young girls dying from drug overdoses really that funny? The same two-bit celebs in the audience giggling at it will probably sneak into the lavs during the ad break, to dole out and snort up the booger-sugar.

4. There was a flashback to a previous Logies where apparently a snake bit Tim Webster on the left testicle. For once I was sorry to have missed something on the Logies.

5. Sam Newman was mentioned at one point and was heartily ‘boo-ed’. He’s currently as popular as tinea, though there are probably still women idiot enough to sleep with him.

6. The spike-haired twerp from Getaway made an error of fact when he suggested that Westlife would be looking for “hot chicks”. Westlife’s lead singer suggested he’d actually be looking for “hot men”. The spike-haired twerp from Getaway had better watch his back.

7. It’s still shit.

I, ah, laughed a little at Mr G. It was so awful.

Soon as I saw Bindi Irwin, I turned over and stumbled across Corey Delaney going into the Big Brother house. I went back to Bindi Irwin and muted the TV and got a piece of carrot cake.

And yes, it’s all shit.

I just had a look at the Melbourne Aiport web site flight radar and see Emirates flight EK404 is on a south easterly track, over the South Australian desert and inbound to Melbourne.
Maybe, just maybe one of engines will have a catastrophic failure and the fucking thing will crash into the Crown Palladium ballroom killing every bastard involved in Australia fucked up television industry.
I know it would result in the deaths of about 400 passengers crew and collaterals like waiters - but their deaths would not be in vain.

I agree it’s shit, all Australian produced TV drama & comedy is shit. Have you seen East of Everything on ABC? The final episode was tonight (thank Christ), and I only watched it because the plot and the acting was so incredibly bad it was good!

BUT there is one exception - CHRIS LILLEY. He’s a comic genius and even his MR G is very funny. I think the drug song was actually anti-drugs - a parody - and certainly wouldn’t have turned kids on to drugs as it mocked anyone who takes them. Calling Annabel a drugged-out slut was actually sending a message.

I suppose they’ll give the Gold to Lisa (I couldn’t act to save myself) McCune again? Who cares?

I agree with you, Ray, re Chris Lilley. His Mr G is so cringe-worthy, it’s funny. And his drugs song was certainly a parody, despite “family values groups” trying to claim it was otherwise.

I’m picking either Kate whatshername, Richie? or Rove McManus to win the Gold. I’ve never understood the popularity of Lisa McCune; she can’t, as you say, act. Neither can I, for that matter, but sheesh, I never could make a career out of it.

Bron, I didn’t take offence at the Annabel sequence even though he called her Annabel Dixon. And I think there’s probably a Mr G type character at most large secondary schools. Some people here would know if that’s right.

Wah is determined to get us all called in for a free island holiday in the Caribbean. As for Mr G, I agree he was funny initially but I think like a lot of comedic characters, the joke has been well and truly overwashed.

I don’t think he overdid the character, by the way, there were only 6 episodes, unlike K & K, who should have stopped after 6 episodes. They haven’t been funny for a long time and as for Magda … why is she in the show?

It’s a one-joke character, Ray. He’s deluded, loves himself and is power-hungry (sounds like some bloggers we know). A few turns on the carousel and it all becomes pretty routine.

I was the first editor to run an article about Chris Lilley. I remember arranging for a work experience kid to do it, but then I saw the preview tapes of We Can Be Heroes and was dying to do the interview. I let the kid do it though.

as for that sex tape buisiness, I watched it repeatedly for several hours (I take my research responsibilities very seriously) and from what I can deduce, Kate Richie has a penis.

Seriously though, I think it’s pretty obvious whoever the guy is knows the camera is there (he looks straight at it for a long time when her head is turned) and whoever the girl is appears completely oblivious to the camera’s presence.

If I’m right it’s a pretty low act.

Filming Kate Richie surruptitiously with sub-standard video equipment while rooting her is just not on.
I mean he went to the trouble of rooting her, is it too much to ask for him to go the extra distance to provide adequate quality audio visual hardware for the job? I mean, she’s a professional actress for cryin’ out loud, what was the lighting guy on a break or what? how’s that going to look on her audition tape?
