Will you please just give up the keys to the Lodge and fuck off?

Just like people who aren’t satisfied with one birthday a year and have to have 13 of them, the unceremoniously dumped former Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard, can’t accept that it’s over. His grand farewell tour of the world rolled on into its sixth month with another farewell gig in Sydney last night.

In his speech, to party faithful in Sydney last night, Mr Howard also said that despite the “propaganda” of the Labor Party, his government had been kinder to the poor, the underprivileged and low-income earners than the Hawke and Keating governments before it.

[…]

Mr Howard was speaking at a tribute dinner organised in his honour to raise funds for the NSW Liberal Party.

I’m not even going to comment on that.

But here’s a bit of unintentional hilarity from Annabel Stafford at The Age.

The 1200-strong crowd, which included Liberal heavyweights (sic) such as Dr [Brendan] Nelson…

LOL!

He did so much for the people of Bennelong that they turfed him from his own constituency, only the second PM to be treated thus.

How does Nelson feel that the only thing worth celebrating at Liberal Land is the past and that nasty little rodent.

1200, I wonder how many “free buffet” tickets they had to send around to get that kind of a turnout?
Not so very long ago he’d easy pull a 12, 000 strong crowd at a public address if he had wanted.
Oh how quickly they forget, Howard is the absolute embodiment of “yesterday’s man”, even now he doesn’t have the good grace to bow out and let his party attempt to re-group after the 11 years of autocratic rule under Howard’s stewardship.

There’s a saying in the theatre about “too many curtain calls”, ideally a performer will try to leave their public hungering to see more of them rather than sick to the back teeth of the sight of them.
It’s a pitty it’s advice little johnny fartpants didn’t heed.

I love the fact he said not to take cheek from the ALP.

So here’s some I prepared earlier.

Nelson is to “heavyweight” what Milli Vanilli were to music.

I think it’s worth it, just to remind us that after 7 years of the dark ages (I count post-Tampa as Howard’s Mugabe years, 1996-2000 was too bad) we finally came to our senses and turfed the prick out.

it was just on the news, fuck me if that wasn’t a wake huh?

I love that he will only talk to “the party faithful”. He knows if he opens his mouth anywhere else, someone will probably glass him.

    FUCK OFF!!!

    Yours with bloodthirsty violent intentions,

Ugh, just saw Howard’s Liberals love-in on the news.

And little Alex Downer kissing his arse. Not literally, of course, but he might as well.

Thank God he’s no longer PM. Thank God.

Fuck off, John. Forever would be great.

I thought poor widdle Alex was going to cry when he started bleating about the media giving John and him such a hard time.

he’s certainly succumbed to the hubris, doesnt mind an excessive circle jerk in his honour every few months

LOL. So true. Picking up prizes from various Fuck The Poor organisations that litter the west like parasitic stomach worms.

The little turd refuses to stay flushed.

The guy’s like a political lich. Doesn’t know to stop moving once he’s dead and won’t turn down affection from the lackeys.

  17.  Gravatar Krypto (Friday 9 May 2008, 1:29 am) #

oh yeah, he’s a floater alright. Like thirty+ years of refusal to be flushed.

It’s all such bloody hypocricy isn’t it? even among the “party faithful” I’ll bet there were more than a few people willing to personally foot the bill to put a sniper in the rafters.

Yet they smile and nod inanely and sing little johnny’s praises, “thanks little johnny, you really fucked us big time by not fucking off when you said you would” smile smile.

    Their integrity is for shit.

It’s good to see Howard kept his promise and hasn’t become one of those ex-PMs who keep showing up, commenting on leadership and politics and getting involved. Howard is clearly a man of his word.

I don’t know what all those Evil Lefties are complaining about. It’s a dream. Brendan Nelson is (tee hee) leader of the Liberal Party and John Howard, the great political masterlord who was done over by (heeheehee) an ABC journalist and SuperNerd himself, is their only crowd-pulling star. Think about it. They have to rely on Howard to raise funds. They’re taking advice from the man who blew two elections in one go.

It’s all absolutely brilliant and pure comedy gold.
