 True love spurned

I’ve got to admit that I almost feel sorry for Andrew Bolt. Watching Gordon Ramsay on television a few weeks ago he fell in love. There was something about Gordon Ramsay — a man’s man with conservative values and masculine pride — that made Bolta’s heart beat a little faster.

I like particularly the standards Ramsay upholds and which drive him to fury when transgressed.

Ramsay, you see, thinks hard work honours man. Slackers drive him spare: “You might as well just f… off.”

He thinks if a job is to be done, it’s best done well. Sloppiness is an insult to a worker’s dignity. A moral crime.

He thinks if you’re taking a man’s wage, you owe him a day’s labour. Those who bludge on their boss are called “cheats” and the worst, like the manager of Dillons, are out the door.

He thinks reason beats irrational sentiment. If orange paintings of what seems global warming turn off customers, then too bad if the owner loves them to sentimental tears; they must go to save the restaurant.

He thinks some authority is better than none when you want things run well. Three managers in one chaotic restaurant get pared to one, despite the tears, because collectives and group fuzzies just don’t work.

Yet he also believes in loyalty and teams - the little platoons of society that are the bedrock of a community.

But just like a lot of desperate crushes this love was not to be. Imagine Andy’s feeling of rejection when he discovered that Ramsay wasn’t quite the man he believed him to be (with a bit of groupthink thrown in for good measure.)

My faith in Gordon Ramsay’s good sense has been shaken. Tim Blair exposes another eco-hypocrite - a global warming prophet in a Ferrari, and with a disturbing taste for banning other people’s little pleasures.

Having your heart broken is no joke. My thoughts are with you, Andrew.

You see, if he done a bit of investigation before he wrote his first Ramsay story, he would have found this out before (and wouldn’t have had to have used Timmeh as a source of what to think). It is odd that Andrew put down his. You know what they say though. Love is blind.

    Or is that justice?

Or a bunch of other things when News Ltd journos investigate?

Someone has to photoshop the blindfold on Rupert’s face now.

Ah, true love … bitter to the end.
    Poor Andrew.

    Very funny though.

My heart truly bleeds for Randy Andy.

People like Bolt show what a folly their claim, that there’s an organisation called The Left, is. He can’t accept that people have varying views that transgress the political divide and he ends up looking like bell-end when he likes a trait of someone who upsets “the Left” one one hand but then espouses another so-called lefty view.

    Nice one.

And I love the comment on the Watch site about how Blair apparently “exposes” Ramsay by simply linking to a couple of mainstream articles published in the past few days. What an expose!

I’m never sure what’s funnier/sadder – Bolt’s deranged rantings or those of his group-thunking cheer squad.
    For instance, this comment:

Shows how well you research before shooting your mouth off Andrew. Last week Ramsay was your hero, now suddenly not. Who’s the greater fool, the fool or the fool that follows.

    Receives this non sequitur:

Quoting Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn’t make you a genius, Bill B.
Look at the people who voted for Kevin Rudd six months ago. Some of them have woken up to the fact that they made a mistake. Good on them for having the integrity to admit it.
    Shalom
    Sally

    And this disingenuous response:

I didn’t see the word “hero” anywhere.
My faith in Gordon Ramsay’s good sense
    Do you?

But if it’s group thinking you want, the following comment could be used in any on line dictionary as an example of GT:

My faith in Gordon Ramsay’s good sense has been shaken.

Mine too, Andrew, after reading Tim Blair’s thread.
I never figured he would be one who advocates government intervention in the marketplace and therefore people’s lives.
I had previously thought he was more like a Jeremy Clarkson of the kitchen. If only he was!
    I am disappointed, very disappointed.
However I will still watch his show, albeit with far less enthusiasm.

    Laugh, I damn near cried.

Speaking of love spurned, how do you think ole leathery Andrea is coping?

  9.  Gravatar Bron (Monday 12 May 2008, 11:31 am) #

    Coping with what?

TIm Blair has a new blog, and doesn’t need “cult figure” Andrea anymore.

Ah, I see. I thought I saw something on Bolta’s blog saying update your links. Naturally, I couldn’t be arsed.

Poor Andrea. My heart bleeds for her as well.

I wasn’t even aware she had a blog. It’s as boring as batshite. But apparently she doesn’t work at WalMart anymore, which is good news for all.

I’ve been trying to Andrea The Giant to ban me all morning. She keeps just deleting the fine Scottish restaurant comments instead.

Comment deletion is the new black.

WHAT! Andrea the scab, my favourite gal is no longer part of Blair’s lair?

I always wondered why she was so rabid on Blair’s site but her own site is so lame? There is barely a mention of her RW ideals but full of personal smulch … oh and of course begging.

Is that right JS, she’s left her career position at Walmart? Moved up has she to Burger King? How come she is so vile to any centre to left views but resorts to being a scab because she can’t look after herself financially. Smells like the typical RW loud mouth, preaches individual responsibility but when they need help it’s a different matter.

God, why am I spending so much time writing about this vile CUNTFACE???? I’ve got to clean my pets litter tray.

  16.  Gravatar Terry Wright (Monday 12 May 2008, 2:23 pm) #

BTW Andrea, try and delete my last message … it hurts when you don’t have that power. Now we can all type ‘fine Scottish restaurant’ as many times as we like. So blah!

  17.  Gravatar Damian (Monday 12 May 2008, 2:30 pm) #

    Oh dear, Terry.

Have you been commenting at Blair’s new News Ltd digs?

I am sure Andrew will still love Gordon for his strong viewpoint on worker rights. But will from now on snipe whenever he sees him driving a car, turning on a light switch or not whiping his ass with recycled toilet paper as a hypocrite like Al Gore.

I think it’s great how a world class chef is telling people not to use produce at the wrong time of year. But what i think is even better is that that somehow makes him an eco-prophet. Fresh food at all times of the year? gtfo greenpeace lackey. He didn’t say “I want this so we can save the earth from global warming” It’s like when you sell a car you throw in some extras to make it seem like a really good deal even though its a bit of a shitbox.

Any chef worth their salt - right, left, green or black - is going to tell you not to use produce out of season.

Bolt has clearly run out of things to gripe about.

    The love is gone:

expect a daily rant and attack piece.. just wait until Ramsay is found in a photo with Al Gore

True love takes a long time to get over.

To me the only parallel I can picture is Borat’s infatuation with Pamela Anderson. Especially Bolt’s let down when he finds Timbo “making hand party with” Gordon..

When you think about it, Gordon and the Bolta have a lot in common: they both prowl the streets to gauge the populist mood, head back into their steamy dens and concoct stuff that sells, offending plenty of people in the process. Maybe Bolta has just worked out that Gordo is on the bigger bucks.
