Dr Brendan Nelson has unveiled his latest catchphrase.

The most important thing is that we must be focused and disciplined as far as the government’s budget is concerned - it has pulled the plug on pensioners

[...]

Malcolm will be at the press club tomorrow in Canberra. He’ll be setting out a very strong case as to why the budget of the Rudd government has failed Australians, pulled the plug on pensioners

That’s some pretty strong mental imagery there, Bren-doc. Are you sure you’d like to subconsciously suggest that Labor is forcibly euthanising the elderly? Than again, you are a doctor so I’m sure you know what you’re doing.

What the fuck did the Howard Government do for pensioners?

$500 bribes to shut the fuck up and vote for that nice man Mr Howard.

the occasional vote liberal cheque in the mail, which of course they never extended the same courtesy to people with a disability.

I like how on Planet Brendan the pension rate only became incredibly low on the 25th of November 2007. And even though his party didnt increase the base rate after 11 years and after 6 months in opposition he doesnt have a formal policy for increasing the pension, he can still critisise Rudd for not increasing it. The mind boggles.

    The question is

    Is Brendan stupid? or
Does he think the Australian public are stupid?

Wot he means is, like, wot dey’ve done, der Labor party, is dat dere runnin’ around the country pullin’ der stoppers out of der old folks colostomy bags.

Ed. Here is another one i hope becomes a catchphrase. Whenever he wants to critisise Rudd for not doing something he can use this

“look, Kevin Rudd found the time to go and visit Cate Blanchett’s new baby. If he has got the time to do that, he has got the time to meet pensioners and seniors organisations including those people protesting in Melbourne and actually listen to what they have to say.”

KRUDD has time for famous people but doesnt want to meet raving lunatic stripping pensioners, oh the outrage.

Is the opposite of “pulling the plug on pensioners” “plugging pensioners”? Is that what Dr B is suggesting he’ll do? He seems like a superbly virile specimen but there are a lot of OAPs out there. Is he gonna wear his rubber gloves and doctor’s outfit?

    Yes and yes.

And I’ll keep an eye out for the visiting Cate’s baby catchphrase. That’s a goodun.

    He looked like one.

Expect to see that catch-phrase repeated ad infinitum. I was just starting to get used to “groceries-in-the-trolley/petrol-in-the-car” too. Hearing Brendan say that was like slipping into a warm bath…

Seriously though, now that the budget reply is out of the way, is there anything left for him to do before getting boned ? Gippsland BYE-election maybe. Is that it?

… is there anything left for him to do before getting boned?

No, I’d say that’s about it, Jimmy. Problem is, Malcolm Turdbull (ooh, see what I did there?) appears to have set his own leadership ambitions back by leaking that email, so it looks like Nelson will be staying put for a while yet.

Slipping into a warm bath with a razor blade, Jimmy?

Pensioners often complain that they payed tax for years so therefore deserve the earth. I bet when they payed tax they didn’t ask for more money to go to pensioners then.
Stop playing pokies and leave us alone.

so one author having a conservative sock puppet and a liberal sock puppet on the same blog. There’s a novel idea. Pitty it actually shows you stand for precisely NOTHING, nada, zip, zilch.
You sir are an integrity free zone.

I think The Suit and Hippy are different authors, Krypto. Also, they’re both playing up the stereotype a bit.

  15. Tuesday 20 May 2008, 4:22 pm #Krypto

when I see them both in the same room at the same time I’ll be convinced Ed, until then they are just figments of Andy Slandy’s imagination as far as I’m concerned.

You Krypto are a prick. Actually on second thoughts you’re OK …
    Damn, fuck this bipolar!
