The other day, The Editor lamented racism and bigotry implicitly and explicity rearing their ugly heads again after Camden Council voted unanimously to oppose a proposal to build an Islamic school on the outskirts of the town, south-west of Sydney, “on planning grounds alone”.

Local resident and bigot, Kate McCulloch, caught media attention with her garish green and yellow dress and an abominable Akubra adorned with Australian flags, as well as her openly prejudiced remarks, such as:

We don’t want [Muslims] not only here, we don’t want them in Australia. They’re an oppressive society, they’re a dictatorship… The ones that come here oppress our society, they take our welfare and they don’t want to accept our way of life.

Days later, she’s back in the news. The Sydney Morning Herald has interviewed her (why?), and her comments reveal a cretinous dimwit who is now talking about following the footsteps of Pauline Hanson and entering politics. Says she:

“Look, scores of people are coming up to me and saying, ‘Good on you, Kate … you’re saying what we’re too scared to ‘cos of racial vilification laws, but we all think it.’ I would like to keep our place like it is and I guess [joining the] Liberals would be natural,”

She conveniently forgets — or doesn’t know — that Pauline Hanson was kicked out of the Liberal Party for her extremist racist views.

Having said that, however, the Liberal Party is still nevertheless home to many other bigots. The most recent notable being fomer Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews. The Age today writes that a confidential Immigration Department report (obtained under Freedom of Information laws) found that racial harassment of Africans increased following Andrews’ claims in 2007 that they were engaged in crime and failing to integrate.

Desperate political point-scoring at its most detestable. And Kate McCulloch might find a home within the Liberal Party after all.

Anyway, back to Mad Kate. She makes another bizarre comment about the “victory vote” by Camden Council:

She said the victory vote was in keeping with the spirit of Camden’s status as the birthplace of the nation’s wool industry. “The Macarthurs will be proud of us,” she said.

Huh? What’s the wool industry got to do with any of this?

What else did she say?

“I want Muslims in Australia to attend our schools so their children can grow up with our values, and more importantly, so that their mothers can meet Australian mums and see how they don’t have to put up with the sort of treatment they sometimes endure.”

Meanwhile, across all geographic areas of Australia and in all socioeconomic and cultural groups, a conservatively estimated 36% of women experience domestic violence and a conservatively estimated 19% of women experience sexual assault (2005). And they’re just the women who report the assaults, with God knows how many more going unreported.

Oh, but Mad Kate conveniently ignores that. Only Moozlim women are under some kind of terrible “treatment”.

And what does Pauline Hanson think of this new myopic ignoramus upstart?

The Herald called Mrs Hanson about her would-be successor. She hung up without offering a word.

katemcculloch_wideweb__470x3040.jpg

O come, all ye bigots, I shall be your racist mouthpiece.

Note: a bigger article about Mad Kate and the Camden outrage, plus the lead-up to the vote and the involvement of racist groups such as Australia First and the Anglo-Australian National Community Council and their cowardly midnight actions can be found here.

I’m surprised she could even pronounce “vilification” let alone know what it meant.

  2. Saturday 31 May 2008, 9:51 am #Private Tom

Why is it about Sydney (or NSW in general) that attracts the bigots? They’ve got Australia First, the AANCC, the CDP, and if you’ve been to Fight Dem Back, there are more NSW articles on racism then in Vic. Anybody know why?

BTW, in no way using this groupthink as an advertisement, I’ve started a new blog! I think General Bron will like it.

She fucking well got that right, didn’t she? The detestable, puckered arsehole-faced harridan.

Cystitis is too good for that sow.

    Ha.

I seriously hope she does run for the Libs. And becomes leader. And then Prime Minister because she is the greatest Australian hero of all time.

“Mrs McCulloch, who owns a hospitality business in Camden”

    Fish and chip shop.

Thanks, Bron. I hadn’t caught the latest. What the fuck is the Herald doing giving her oxygen like that? Fuck me.

Her views are pretty widely shared in Camden. A lot of ignorance, and lots of paranoia. If she signs up for the Libs she’ll probably do pretty well unless she shoots her mouth off and offends (white) people.

Mayor Patto is in the Libs. His family owns the pub where I hear Kate is employed (can’t verify that yet, but I’ll be calling in there for a beer in a couple of weeks). Funny how, while Patto told the media that the decision was all about planning and that the Quranic Society could re-apply, Kate is convinced council voted against MUZZIES in Islamden. Maybe she knows something we don’t.

Also, a couple of mates were having a Friday arvo beer at a pub in the main street of Camden yeaterday. They both sent me text messages about a massive police presence in town, including horses and stuff. Same thing happened when Fred Nile rolled into town in December. Apparently they were expecting trouble last night. Dunno if anything happened.

    Chuck, that’s NOT FUCKING FUNNY!

  7. Saturday 31 May 2008, 12:31 pm #brerrabbit

The Macarthurs wouldn’t be proud of them, mainly because the Macs were the biggest snobs out, in one famous case dropping someone because he’d dined with ex convicts.

I’m not saying that the Macarthurs wouldn’t be anti Muslim, but that they wouldn’t have a bar of the likes of Kate.

“the victory vote was in keeping with the spirit of Camden’s status as the birthplace of the nation’s wool industry. “The Macarthurs will be proud of us,” she said.

you know I was thinking what a completely useless specemin bereft of a single solitary redeeming grace that woman appears, but then I remembered it’s the time of year to apply blood and bone fertiliser.

See, I reckon she may have a couple of valid points. And everyone is entitled to their opinions. I kinda agree with her on the whole “everyone should have an Aussie education”, but she sounds batshit insane and so fucking uninformed I doubt she even had an education herself.

God, I hope she runs for Parliament. There’s some solid gold blog fodder there.

“What the fuck is the Herald doing giving her oxygen like that? Fuck me.

Her views are pretty widely shared in Camden. A lot of ignorance, and lots of paranoia.”

The Herald is doing what they usually do, being a pathetic excuse for a newspaper and giving some loon attention because they know that it has freak value and will get lots of clicks and keep their online advertisers happy.

“Scratching Australia’s heart of darkness?” or whatever the Herald “journalist” said, for fuck’s sake. I am not defending Kate McCulloch, she’s obviously a shitstain of a person, but what I’m more interested in is why.

I grew up in Western Sydney with bugger all (silver spoon? we didn’t even have plastic forks! is the way a friend puts it) surrounded by people pissed off and ignorant. Some of my family members are still racist enough to curdle milk which is both painful and embarrassing.

The working class or underclass or whatever you want to call many residents of Sydney areas similar to Camden are enraged (I don’t use that word lightly) at what they see others having and what they feel they are missing out on, so along comes the current “out” group who get all that anger piled on them, instead of that anger going where it should. When I was a kid it was Vietnamese people, no doubt in twenty years the Muslim community can look forward to some peace from the bigots and a new group will be copping it.

I guess what I’m trying to say is yes this woman would no doubt make some good fertiliser, but it’s too easy to just stand back and judge. I really despair that this cycle will never be broken. I can remember sitting in beer gardens as a kid with hard faced women with taped up ribs from the latest bit of domestic violence as they lit their cigarettes and bitched about “Asians taking our welfare money”.

Here we go again and again and again.

    Excellent point, EC.

  15. Saturday 31 May 2008, 3:15 pm #flagg

Pauline Hanson was kicked out of the Liberal Party for her extremist racist views.

True. And then in 2004 I remember Pauline being asked if she was gonna make another go of it and she said she wouldn’t, essentially because “John Howard’s done everything I wanted to do anyway”. Ripper.

  16. Saturday 31 May 2008, 4:19 pm #Bridgit Gread

Bigoted arseholes like this will probably begin to come out of the woodwork more, given that they no longer have Howard to speak for them couched in supposedly sensible tones.

  17. Saturday 31 May 2008, 4:50 pm #Private Tom

What are the chances of her voting for the CDP? 1:1?

  18. Saturday 31 May 2008, 5:49 pm #Judas Kiss

Hang on Private Tom. Victoria played host to the three ring circus: The Islamic Council of Victoria, Catch the Fire and judge Higgins of the VCAT. Using the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001 the protagonists slugged it out much to the amusement of the rest of Australia. Free speech nearly disappeared in the state of Victoria. Muslims and occultists are using the act to pursue centuries old feuds with Christians. Isn’t it true that a swimming centre in Shepparton has male Muslim only swimming times? Lunacy is not confined to NSW.

Kate McCulloch a fucking mole. Why is the media giving so much time to Australia’s biggest slags. If it’s not this stupid xenophopic bitch, it’s Roberta Williams and Judy Moran.
Why is it people are happy for the Bali 9 to die by firing squad because “they are giving us kids drugs” but a super bitch like Williams, who profited from manufacturing and selling drugs, becomes a media star?

And, why are people so keen for Muslim women to “be treated like Australian women”, when so many people, including women, believe Sam Newman did nothing wrong with his Caroline Wilson stunt.

I ask Kate fucking McCulloch to visit a crisis care centre and see how many Muslim women there are hiding in fear of their lives from drunken mysoginistic white Australian males. A hijab does not make for persecutuion you stupid fuck!

I hate you Kate McCulloch, I hate anyone who has patted you on the back this week. You have been seen around the world for what you are and if you have children, I pray they are embarrassed, if not ashamed, by your actions and haven;t followed you down the path to bogotry.
    Enjoy the fame, you bitch.

  25. Sunday 1 June 2008, 12:59 am #Mr. G. H. Schorel-Hlavka

While personally I deplore racism as a “CONSTITUTIONALIST” I must admit that Subsection 51(xxvi) of the constitution was specifically inserted to discriminate against coloured races. Also, the Framers of the Constitution did provide that while the commonwealth could not enact laws regarding religion the States could. What however in Victoria is gone too far is to enact laws against the general community as the Commonwealth also did.
What we now have is that pending who you are you can or cannot discriminate, as the Anti Discrimination Tribunal will decided who can or cannot discriminate. Now that to me is nonsense in itself.
    .
For those who take issue with Muslims should keep in mind that the time will come that Muslims will become the majority of Australian population in time and then they might just reverse the roles, and oppose other religions to have their schools, etc.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
    .
    On 7-6-2006 I published;
    .
INSPECTOR-RIKATI® & What is the -Australian way of life- really?
A book on CD on Australians political, religious & other rights
    ISBN 0-9751760-2-1 (prior to 1-1-2007) ISBN 978-0-9751760-2-3
    .
People would do well to understand that the “Australian way of life” is not cherry picking what a person may desire to pretend it to be but includes also the murder/rape/robberies, etc.
    .
Now, I would prefer anyone not to accept this kind of “Australian way of life” but rather that they are law abiding citizens and who cares then if they are of whatever religion, colour of skin, etc. After all, if they have their customs, religion, etc, within the boundaries of the law then is that not better then some non-Muslim robbing/raping or whatever?
    .
Being a grand father many times over, at least I am glad never having interfered with my children’s choice of partner, as my grandchildren do not suffer this racism doctrine.

  26. Sunday 1 June 2008, 1:52 am #Wah

According to the 2001 census Muslims made up just 1.5% of Australia’s population, compared to Catholic (26.6%), Anglican (20.7%).

The number of Muslims went up 40% since the 1996 census, which may alarm people like you, Mr Schorel-Hlavka, but should be in context with Buddhism, which in 2001 had slightly higher numbers in Australia (1.9%) an increase of 79.1 per cent. At that rate Buddhists should outnumber Catholics in a few years, but we know that’s not going to happen.

I’m sure the number of Muslims in Australia has risen again since 2001, but this is due to increased migration of people from the Middle East, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sub-continent and Africa.

For Muslim to become Australia number one religion would require millions of people to convert to Islam - to justify fear of muslims and intolerable behaviour against them on these grounds is ignorant, if not blatant scare mongering.

look, I know Surname has had a go at me for posting four in a row before, but I think this is worth it.
    Quote from inspector rat-kaki himself…

“This book had in chapter 74 also a 1-9-2003 correspondence to Premier peter Beattie setting out why I held the convictions of Pauline Hanson and David Attridge were legally floored.”

Floored? Yes I was, I had no idea anyone with the affrontery to set themselves up as a backyard expert on constitutional law didn’t even know how to spell “flawed”.

    He’s flawed, I’m floored.

  38. Sunday 1 June 2008, 6:58 pm #Bron

Yeah, he’s written it as “floored” in other bits of, um, writing as well. And it’s Ettridge, not Attridge. Now that’s floored. Flawed. Whatever.

  44. Sunday 1 June 2008, 7:31 pm #Krypto

VEAL!! what do you think I’m some kind of monster?

  45. Monday 2 June 2008, 1:20 am #Mr. Gerrit H. Schorel-Hlavka

Firstly, I am not at least worried about Muslims or for that any other religious group as to taking over Australia as I was merely using it as an example. I do not practice any religion and do not worry about others doing so, within the limits of the law.
    .
As for my poor English, you seem to give me more credit then I would give myself as to me I refer to it as “crummy English”, then again I had never any formal education in the English language! Born in the Netherlands I have the habit of mixing Dutch and English and then create my own kind of language. My wife, a linguistic, berates me every moment of the day about it and now even praises her late husband for not having been that bad after all in his usage of the English language.
Still, before anyone likes to have a go at me, take for example the lot that go to federal elections and vote, where with all their supposed superior English language skill they and up like sheep voting., where as I, with my crummy English- defeated - after a 5-year long litigation battle - the Federal Government lawyers that compulsory voting is unconstitutional and as such I refuse to vote.
As such, it seems to me that those who criticise me have a handicap of following like sheep unable to understand let alone comprehend what the constitution is about, while I with my crummy English end up proving to know better.
    .
Yes, I have come across many lawyers trying to pick on my lack of proper English during proceedings and then afterwards I can pick on them for them having lost the case and perhaps they would do better to spend less time trying to pick on my crummy English and more time in learning what the Constitution really is about.
    .
Only fools are believing that they are better then others and seek to criticise others while not grasping their own shortcomings, and I for one do not have a problem admitting, as I have always done, not to have had formal education in the English language.
    .
What is the use for me to waste my time to learn English when in any event most people who claim to be so good in the English language still don’t comprehend what the true meaning of the constitution is and how it applies?
    .
And, if you think my usage of the English language in writing is terrible, wait if you were to hear how I pronounce words, just be glad you do not have to hear it as my wife has to do. To her it is a curse, being a linguistic!
    .
Just keep in mind that despite my “crummy English” (and proud of it) those who are superior in English often end up in the Courts because they didn’t read documents (in English) properly and then seek my assistance to get them out of their problems.

    Floored

    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/floored

    tr.v. floored, floor•ing, floors
    1. To provide with a floor.
    2. Informal To press (the accelerator of a motor vehicle) to the floor.
    3.
    a. To knock down.
    b. To stun; overwhelm: The very idea floored me.
I USED “FLOORED” AS BEING WITHOUT A “FLOOR”, MEANING WITHOUT FOUNDATION. Both in English and Dutch this term can be used!
