No experience, no opinion

I’ve written about this issue at NewMatilda.com, but it still astounds me that respectable (sic) columnists like Andrew Bolt continue to peddle the line that to understand one must experience.

Maxine McKew, who has never had a child herself, spooks me a bit:

As Professor Frank Oberklaid and Professor Fiona Stanley keep saying, babies come out of the womb ready to learn.

Our job as policymakers is to ensure young children have access to a calm, stimulating environment run by professionals…

Get it? Maxine hasn’t herself sprogged so she musn’t dare form an educated opinion about sprogs. Watertight logic, Bolta, and not at all hypocritical. Here are some things that Andrew has recently written about in which he has both qualifications and experience:

I could go on, but you get the idea.

It’s interesting how the media most commonly considers a politician’s lack of personal experience noteworthy when a female politician is speaking about kids. I noted a similar theme in an education piece from The Australian a few months ago.

BTW, shouldn’t it be “peddle the line”?

Bolt doesn’t have a cunt, but he’s very good at being one.

None of the past few American presidents ever ordered a nuclear strike - yet they were all given the launch codes.

Tobias is correct - it’s “peddle”, not “pedal”. Screen shot number two, stored for evidence.

    Seems Bolt is actually girly:

While grods is extremely manly, almost testosterone excessive:

At Random Brainwave, A.J has no experience at writing coherent sentences, or using correct tenses. It doesn’t stop him trying.

“While grods is extremely manly, almost testosterone excessive”

    That’s my influence.

Re pedal/peddle: youse done saw nothink.

nothink = nuffink, I fink. Although I’ve always been concerned about the ‘e’ in ‘youse’. If it’s a plural of ‘you’, should it not be ‘yous’?

Apparently there’s a 55% chance my blog is written by a man, but it’s “quite gender neutral”

How, I have no idea. Maybe men use too many commas and that’s throwing the results off?

Maybe it’s because your blog keeps posting pictures of a good-looking woman, Keri.

    Sleeeeaze.

Surname, just because you never compliment anyone without agenda doesn’t mean the same applies to everyone.

  14. Monday 24 November 2008, 1:24 pm #John Surname

That’s nonsense. I once told a girl she had strong thighs when she demanded to know why I never compliment her. I’ll bet she never hears that again.

    Sleeeeaze.

Actually, John Surname — if indeed that is your real name — I think you’ll find the word “sleaze”, which WordNet defines as “cheapness: tastelessness by virtue of being cheap and vulgar” only has one E. The three superfluous Es you typed make you look like a typically ignorant Leftist.

Also, it’s telling that you deleted the typo from this website and placed it here, just to make it more difficult for me to track you down. This is another typically dishonest Leftist tactic — i.e. trying to dictate the terms, and the venue, of the debate.

No wonder you told me her mother (wrongly) thought she could do better.

If it’s not in the Bible, Dribbling Conservative (yes, that’s my real name, look it up in the phone book), I don’t want to hear about it.

Keri! I tell you things in confidence!

“Keri! I tell you things in confidence!”

Exactly. So be extra nice to me.

  19. Monday 24 November 2008, 1:55 pm #John Surname

What? Do you want me to compliment your thighs now?

  20. Monday 24 November 2008, 1:57 pm #Bron

    Get a room, you two.

  21. Monday 24 November 2008, 2:03 pm #Keri

Get my thighs out of your head, Surname. Perve.

Get my thighs out of your head, Surname

    Must. Not. Engage.
