Compare and contrast

One full account of Mark Latham’s court case by the Fairfax press and one incomplete account of Mark Latham’s court case by the News Ltd. press.

The common elements of both stories: that the magistrate declared Latham’s behaviour “way out of line”, ordered him pay the cost of damage to the camera and placed him on a two year good behaviour bond.

The bits that the News Ltd. papers left out: that the magistrate declared the News Ltd. photographer’s actions “out of line” and placed him on a two year good behaviour bond.

The News Ltd. story ended with a quote from Daily Telegraph editor, David Penberthy: “The fact that he has pleaded guilty to a charge of malicious damage and paid more than $6000 in restitution speaks for itself.”

The fact that David Penberthy’s cameraman was placed on a two year good behaviour bond speaks for itself.
