Timmeh’s monkeys react

Timmeh Blair’s readers are swooning over his underwhelming appearance on Insiders yesterday.

Tim, I loved ur final observation… it was GOLD.
– George of Bris Vegas

Is “final observation” a euphemism for something else?

Good performance, Tim. Cracked up with the “I can live with comment” after Barry tried to corner you with the “destruction of the environment” barb.

Did you snot Barry for forgetting your name after it?

Now, if only we could see both you and Bolt on the same program - but I don’t suppose there’s room for another chair to the right of that sofa.
– Ant of Melbourne *

Jeebus! Imagine the gooey eyes Blair and Bolt would make at each other if on the show at the same time.

Well done. I thought you cut through the rubbish in ways that others haven’t.
– David Ball of Carramar/Sydney

That’s a stretch.

And it wasn’t just me that picked up something going on between Timmeh and Annabel Crabb. The winged monkeys noticed it as well.

Good work, Tim, though I must admit that I thought Annabel Crabb had the hots for you the way she twirled her hair and fluttered her eyes every time you said something.
– Jack Lacton

I spotted the hair-twirling too.
– Cuckoo

But then — shock horror — one of the monkeys takes a swipe at Timmeh’s girlfriend!

Is Annabelle Crab married or attached in any way…..If so, I pity her partner. Dumb as door nails.
– The Original Paul

Timmeh has now traced The Original Paul’s IP address and taken out a contract on his life.

* I done sent an email to George Ant Rogenous: “Are you ‘Ant of Melbourne’ in this comment thread?” He replied: “God, no. I’ve seen that numbnut’s comments at Bolta’s site too — he sullies my pseudonym!”

Liveblogging Timmeh on ‘Insiders’

Here we go then. Let’s see if Timmeh Blair can cut it in a serious discussion format without recourse to his pithy one-liners and his winged monkeys. Oh, and let’s see if he rises to GrodsCorp’s challenge.

9:01 – Shot of the back of Timmeh’s head, chatting and laughing with Annbel Crabb.

9:05 – Timmeh is resplendent in a dark maroon jacket. Either that or the camera is in serious need of a black balance.

9:10 – Timmeh reckons the IOC should just auction gold medals to the highest bidder and laments the lack of funding for non-traditional sports. Dares Annabel to disagree.

9:19 – Comment from GrodsReader “confessions…..”: 2 head tilts from Timmy so far.

9:32 – Interesting eye play between Timmeh and Annabel. Something going on here?

9:36 – Timmeh gets a bit fired up because he’s talking about the ETS and its evilness.

9:37 – More bedroom eyes and giggling between Timmeh and Annabel.

9:40 – Drink! Timmeh said “Gaia”.

9:43 – Timmeh reckons that the Australan electorate doesn’t get many things wrong. I can think of one big one, just off the top of my head.

9:47 – Get a room, you two! Annabel: “I don’t think Costello would be a back-turner. He’s more a front-facer.” Cue cheeky look at Timmeh and nervous giggle.

9:49 – Timmeh gets totally fired up about Monopoly. Teh leftists!

9:50 – Timmeh and Annabel having an awesome time together taking the piss out of 2000 Sydney Games. They’re soooo going back to the same hotel room.

9:57 – Lamest. Joke. Evah. “There are plenty of workplaces where you can get a drink. They’re called pubs.” Even Annabel looked turned off by Timmeh’s horrid dad joke. Timmeh’s going to have to work hard to win her back.

9:59 – Pathetic “last words” from Timmeh, but Annabel laughed heartily so at least they’re reconciled.

And that’s it. Fairly underwhelming, really. Be interesting to see if he gets another crack at the show.

Tim Blair’s ‘Insiders’ challenge

When blogger Timmeh Blair was woeful on the woeful Q&A a couple of months ago GrodsCorp issued a him a challenge: say certain words on air and The Editor will pay him cold, hard cash. Well, Timmeh has announced that he will appear on ABC TV’s Insiders this Sunday, so GrodsCorp is hereby reissuing the challenge. There are two components:

1) $20 if he says “GrodsCorp”.

2) $50 if he says “Fleshlight” in an obviously sexual context.

Tune in at 9am on Sunday to see how much money Tim walks away with. Oh, and there will be liveblogging.

Last one, I promise.

“Peter Costello is the world’s greatest hypothetical.”

Andrew Bolt is a dick

Just now on Insiders the Boltmonster got all “don’t silence me” when Annabel Crabb tried to move the conversation on after he ranted about climate change stats for a bit too long. Then she showed us once again why she rocks.

Crabb: “Andrew, it’s heroic to present a graph that looks like this (indicates upward slope with arm) and say that it represents cooling.”

Bolt: “But since ‘96 the…”

Crabb: “But when the trend is so clearly once way you can’t pick an arbitrary point and…

Bolt: “But, spit, gurgle, blurrrrg…”

Crabb: “Andrew, I read your blog and I think it’s great. But this is not the time for this debate.”

Cut to George Megalogenis pissing his pants laughing.

Just now on Insiders.

“[Brendan] Nelson’s just saying… What I think Nelson’s saying, before he went on holidays and therefore became much more consistent…”

Piers Akerman: stand-up comedian

Lordy lord, I’ve never before laughed so hard on a Sunday morning. First Piers Akerman goes close to picking up the Insiders prop coffee plunger and chucking it at Lenore Taylor because he’s so angry about WorkChoices, Labor’s community cabinets and the “sad” Sorry business; I mean, this guy had spittle on his lips and had turned redder than a beetroot. Then a couple of minutes later he goes on to accuse Cathy Harris, the former head of Affirmative Action, of having “anger management issues” because she suggested there weren’t enough women chairing the Australia 2020 summit.

Laugh? I nearly spewed with mirth.

And that was only one of the ways that Piers made a flying cockhead of himself. He also accused Lenore of arguing that women should be selected to the Australia 2020 summit purely on the basis of gender when she had actually argued the exact opposite, and he said that almost 50% of Australians didn’t agree with the government’s apology and was slapped down by George Megalogenis quoting actual Newspoll statistics (69% really agreed). That’s just what I remember off the top of my head. Anybody else see this brilliant Sunday morning comedy routine?

xx% of GrodsReaders are union officials

Just now on ABC’s Insiders, Treasurer Peter Costello claimed that being a union member is equivalent to being a union official. Pressed by host Barrie Cassidy to explain how Shadow Treasurer Wayne Swan was a union official as claimed by Liberal Party advertising, the best Costello could do was point towards his AWU membership.

In the interest of full disclosure I must declare that I am a union official due to my membership of the AEU. The Liberal Party says that 70% of the Labor front bench are union officials, so lets try and work out what percentage of GrodsReaders are union officials. Drop a quick ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in comments to indicate your union membership status.

UPDATE: Screw the comments thing; let’s GrodsPoll it.

Are you a member of a union and, therefore, a union official?
