Nowhere left to go

Apparently GrodsCorp is “Australia’s hard left,” according to some hard right website. “Left” I’ll accept but I reckon “hard left” is a bit, well, harsh. (Not that I believe in the false left/right dichotomy anyway.)

I’m not very hard; I’m soft as hell. Ant and John are the very opposite of hard. And I’ve never met Bridgit so I can only speculate as to her hardness or otherwise. I mean, we’re so soft that we can’t drink lattes after midday or else we can’t sleep at night. We’re so soft that we put a dash of lemonade in our expensive imported lagers. We’re so soft that if a cafe only has white supermarket bread for our sandwich and nothing with rye in it we cry.

Apparently we’re also “like some kind of a Gollum with a prize” because we’re gloating over Kevin Rudd’s victory. That insult conjours an awesome image in my mind so it’s okay. (Not to mention that it’s utterly true.)

Gollum

He hasss a latte. Gives it to meeeee! My precioussssss.

Andrew Bolt asks:

What is it with the Left and violence - both the verbal and the physical?

The Right responds:

Spy agency ASIO, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the bomb squad are investigating death threats and a “suspicious incident” outside the home of star Labor recruit Maxine McKew, it has been reported this morning.

Four men holding torches were discovered underneath Ms McKew’s car, parked outside her North Shore home, on Thursday night.

The incident followed a number of death threats against the former journalist since she announced she would take on Prime Minister John Howard in his seat of Bennelong.

The violent G20 protests in Melbourne this weekend have drawn vehement criticism from all corners of Australian society and I cannot strongly enough add my voice to that criticism. The mindless and aggressive morons whose underdeveloped intellect can only see the world in terms of “me” and “them” should be dealt with most vigorously by the police for their actions and intent. However, there has also been a predictable chorus from all of the usual suspects about the feral protesters being the face of “the left” and representative of everything that’s bad about “left” politics.

To understand how ridiculous this argument is we can extend the logic and postulate that neo-Nazi skinheads are the face of “the right”. I wonder how Tim, Andy and Andy feel about that?
