Schapelle Corby’s mother Rosleigh has been in the media again because she claims that Kevin Rudd is ignoring her. Thankfully, most of the media couldn’t care less, which is why I have only heard about this now, two weeks later.

From the Adelaide Advertiser:

SCHAPELLE Corby’s mother Rosleigh Rose has attacked Labor Leader Kevin Rudd for not acknowledging the plight of her daughter, now serving 20 years in an Indonesian jail for drug trafficking.
Ms Rose told The Bulletin magazine she and Schapelle’s aunt, who lives in Mr Rudd’s Brisbane electorate of Griffith, had “written to him heaps”.
“She’s been to the office. She’s rung. And not a single reply,” Ms Rose said.
“She’s had nothing, not even a single phone call to her or anything.
“I just think it’s wrong.”
Ms Rose said Mr Rudd would not get her vote after snubbing her family’s situation.
“We’ve not had one acknowledgement, not even saying, ’sorry, my hands are tied, or I can’t do anything’,” she said.
“All I can think is he’s not here to help Australians.”

I don’t know what she expects Kevin Rudd to do. He is far too busy standing in front of the mirror practising his John Howard mannerisms and friending hipsters on MySpace to bother with her. More shocking is the news that she won’t vote for him, even though she probably wouldn’t have voted for him anyway (”John ‘Oward’s doin’ a good job wif de economy and all that, but”). Simply put, he is a busy man who doesn’t have time for the parents of convicted criminals. If she really wants him to pay attention, I think Schapelle should dress in one of those spiffy Kevin07 shirts and have pictures taken. What better way to bring more momentum to his campaign?

The way Kevin07 is going, he could bring back Medicare Gold AND punch out a taxi-driver AND write a book called The Rudd Diaries: Fuck Australia and still win the election. Add in a duet with Shannon Noll and a suprise appearance on the catwalk at Australian Fashion Week and I’m sure even John Howard and Andrew Bolt would vote for him.
